Crosses N’Crystals

Nostalgia for all things with a history and reflections on a recent loss of a loved one took me here today-the sun was shining like mad between rolling thunder clouds, and the gorgeous rays of sunlight made these vintage crystals just dance across my work space. They’ve been sitting is a drawer for nearly 5 years, a treasured find from one of my most very favorite treasure-seeking places on earth, General Salvage Ltd in Victoria, BC. -real old glass crystals from a chandelier back when those baubles were real glass….and do they ever sparkle and shimmer! Took some problem solving to get them strung-and a few bandages. The old glass splinters are lethal-

The cross design is popular in the jewelry world, but I added a new twist with custom copper rings in a size that made a bit of a statement-these neck pieces are on 35″ chains and can be found locally at Creative Fix in Creston BC, and soon to be featured on my Etsy Store. Thanks for dropping by, stay connected for new products and schedules for workshops being offered!

New Workshop-Earring Extravaganza

This is going to be a busy day–so many techniques, so little time…here is what I have planned for us~

“You’ll design your own hoops and ear wires, then learn loads of techniques to showcase them-beaten copper, folded and textured brass, stamped silver solder, wrapped wire, adding beads and baubles, patinas—and oh so much more! You will leave with enough unique, serious bling to put a major dent in your Christmas shopping list…and add to you arsenal of metalsmithing techniques. “

When:  Sunday, November 2nd 10-3pm
Where:  1012 Selkirk Drive, Creston BC

Long n’ Lean

So excited-now having my work featured at Creative Fix here in beautiful Creston, BC….Brandy Hunt is the owner of this amazing shop, and she herself is a fabulous artist in her own right.  Was beyond thrilled to connect with this powerhouse of creativity!

Crystals are never far away from any of my work-and this Swarovski drop is big time impressive.  It’s paired with a beaten and patinaed copper hoop and bar, and hangs from a  copper chain that’s about 32″ long.    In the next few days, this piece along with a few similar items will be available at Creative Fix-apparently long necklaces are the recent ” must have”  …so many ideas, so little time!

I needed roller blades on to keep up with this crew…

Another successful workshop with some amazing talent- Today I had a studio full of artists in their own right..they brought so much of their own knowledge to share, was an exciting day! None of these folks had worked with etching copper or brass before..you’d never know it by the results!  They cut, etched, scrubbed, torched, hammered, and pickled, had lunch, then did it all over again for the rest of the afternoon. The results were nothing short of drop dead awesome.

And at the end of the day, we were all reminded how much we have to be thankful for-a spectacular sunset lit up the sky as the last of the ladies left…kind of summed up the entire day. I made several new friends and for that I am grateful-

Last workshop lusciousness….

I have an incredibly talented group of folks who took my last session.  Given a few basic lessons on technique and form and this is where one person ended up-so unlike anything I’ve ever produced or envisioned.  But-her own spin on the basics is incredible….I am so in awe of the creative storm rolling through the  workshop–much more to follow!  Lucky I am….

Next session is October 11th, one spot left !  Going to be knee deep in cuffs again-etching up a storm, and working with stamping and bling-did I mention this is going to be a whole lotta’ fun? Email me if interested in attending!

If cuffs are your thing and you’d like to learn how to easily create your own designer pieces, this might just be the best 6 hours you’ve ever spent!  Easily perfected methods of etching raw brass and copper, designing your personalized attachments and then putting it all together in pieces you can wear home—maybe start on that Christmas list early?  Have a peak at some prior posts to see what some of my beginner students have accomplished-you truly will amaze yourself in this very hands-on session.  Class sizes are limited to 4 so book early and bring a friend along for support-she’ll share in your new addiction  to all things metal and blingy 🙂
