Love is in the air….

Left to my own devices, within 5 minutes of going into a perfectly clean and organized studio-I will have every tool, bead and roll of wire I own, piled high and stacked like cord wood next to me….I think I am not alone in this phenomena…

Tonight I got to play with hearts-all kinds of ’em.  I made these ones a few weeks ago, layers of antiqued phrases, textured clay resin, tiny glass beads-all encased in resin. These are attached to neck pieces made from bent and twisted copper or brass, leather cording, and finished off with hand formed closures….am having separation anxiety knowing these will soon be going to new homes…wish I could keep them all.  I think I may have a hoarding gene or two…  These pieces and more will be available next week at Creative Fix here in Creston-check out Brandy’s amazing shop then stop by for a coffee and have a look at the amazing array of Valentine gift choices she has to temp you!

Hoping you love these–:)

Crosses N’Crystals

Nostalgia for all things with a history and reflections on a recent loss of a loved one took me here today-the sun was shining like mad between rolling thunder clouds, and the gorgeous rays of sunlight made these vintage crystals just dance across my work space. They’ve been sitting is a drawer for nearly 5 years, a treasured find from one of my most very favorite treasure-seeking places on earth, General Salvage Ltd in Victoria, BC. -real old glass crystals from a chandelier back when those baubles were real glass….and do they ever sparkle and shimmer! Took some problem solving to get them strung-and a few bandages. The old glass splinters are lethal-

The cross design is popular in the jewelry world, but I added a new twist with custom copper rings in a size that made a bit of a statement-these neck pieces are on 35″ chains and can be found locally at Creative Fix in Creston BC, and soon to be featured on my Etsy Store. Thanks for dropping by, stay connected for new products and schedules for workshops being offered!

Long n’ Lean

So excited-now having my work featured at Creative Fix here in beautiful Creston, BC….Brandy Hunt is the owner of this amazing shop, and she herself is a fabulous artist in her own right.  Was beyond thrilled to connect with this powerhouse of creativity!

Crystals are never far away from any of my work-and this Swarovski drop is big time impressive.  It’s paired with a beaten and patinaed copper hoop and bar, and hangs from a  copper chain that’s about 32″ long.    In the next few days, this piece along with a few similar items will be available at Creative Fix-apparently long necklaces are the recent ” must have”  …so many ideas, so little time!

A little dingle and lottsa dangle…

3So much happening in the workshop this past month-where to begin?? Let’s start with a few earrings that all have a story:

These ear drops were inspired by a “free” 2″ piece of half round textured brass from one of my wonderful suppliers,  SupplyDiva  in Mexico.  I’ve had these fabulous green glass lampwork beads sitting in my bead stash for about 2 years.  Just shows what a few hours of free  time can produce–the beads actually spin on their little base…love these.

2I bought these incredible hand crafted lampwork beads from a very talented lady on Vancouver Island at Island Rain Studio  over 3 years ago…they have been patiently waiting for me to design something to really showcase their gorgeous hues and pattern…think I got it!  The soft greens  are enhanced with the sterling silver wire ear hook and wire wraps, and the medallion at the bottom is free-formed silver stamped with one of my favourite designs, a little swirl-I call it my “whirly -gig “…

And I’ve also been having a blast with cages- of sorts.  There isn’t much I can’t wrap into one of these little neck pieces-this one happened to feature sea shells, sea glass and old keys….my kind of wonderful…

Rhinestone Wings

Choker 1 How can a day be any better than this-I got to play with sparkly, pretty things all alone in my new studio..self-made clutter and chaos all around me, I was in my glory!

New to my stash was this gorgeous vintage brooch. I adore the design that reminds me of wings and things that can fly…so with that as my inspiration, off I went. This is where things ended up-one of my all time favourite pieces. Just love it when things like this happen in my world-hoping you like it too.

You’ll find it over at my Etsy Store along with some of my other pieces currently for sale. Please stop by!

Tiger Eyes and Crystals…

Yellow crystal necklaceI had fun putting this piece together-several times for some parts. It began with the beautiful Tiger Eye stone, and went from there. It came together beautifully-layers of etched brass, filigree and then the stone. The crowning glory is the large Swarovski crystal-my favourite color ever.
Hoping you like it as much as I do! It’s now available in my Etsy store so pop over there if you’d like more info. Thanks for stopping by!

Fall Finery!

It just seemed fitting that on a day when the leaves are in full Fall splendor, to create something that honored this glorious season. This piece just came together – seemingly without any input from me. The rich burnt red beads pick up the red in the bezel – a copy of an old postage stamp. I’ve added some metal beads, hand forms clasp and double chain links-and some “bling” on the pendant of course! Yup-happy with this one!

Some Kinda Wonderful

Another treasure turned up in some of my recent estate sale purchases-this fabulous vintage 40’s brooch lends a real “old world” feel to this necklace! Sparkling rhinestones, antiqued brass filigree, hand-formed chain links and clasp, all topped off with a teardrop crystal pendant.

Being able to upcycle vintage jewelry pieces means those treasures will see a new life, loved all over again. If I’m really fortunate, I’ll be able to share some of the history attached to my work-the story is such a big part of the charm of each piece!

So excited to show this one off-

Crystal Waves

It was like Christmas! My last estate sale box of goodies included this amazing brooch and I knew I’d found the perfect home for it – a brass collar that’s had some solder gilding done on it, acid etching and antiquing, and finished with messy wrap pearls, a large vintage crystal and chain links. The clasp is made of Sterling Silver.

This piece went to a new home in Pennsylvania-to a wonderful lady that loved it as much as I did…she sent me the most heart warming note  afterwards and it said:

“I bought the necklace with the horizontal design because I thought it would go well with the popular blouse style of draped collars.  As I anticipated, it does just that and the loose hook closure allows me to adjust the length and easily fasten it.  I did not anticipate the number of unsolicited comments the necklace would generate . In just wearing the necklace for a few weeks, I have received compliments from a woman getting on to an elevator, a colleague sitting across from me at a meeting, who demanded to know where I got it the moment the meeting finished, another who described it as “mesmerizing” when she lost focus on our conversation, and of course, from friends.  The feature that attracted me was the tear drop from a chandelier, but the horizontal design that fills the neckline and keeps the necklace well placed attracts the most admiration.  Thank you for your imaginative and unique vision in creating such wearable art!”

I have the most amazing group of clients, family and friends that support all I do–feeling very blessed and grateful to you all….

A Tweet Nest

I just finished this new neck piece – at least I think it’s finished. Until it finds a new home, nothing is safe. I often re-tweak stuff, it’s an OCD thing. The collar design is so much fun to work with, and since I’ve been making lots of these “nests” and attaching them to everything I can get my hands on-this was no exception. The solder gilding just ramps the layers up a notch, and I finished it off with antiqued brass links.

Look for more of these collars in the coming weeks, I have a few others in the works….

This item is available in my Etsy store as of today.
